Ruined:A Novel

Ruined: a novel by Paula Morris is a ghost story that takes place in New Orleans post
Katrina. I was enriched with the culture and history of New Orleans besides the fact that it is a great ghost story.
Rebecca Brown finds herself in New Orleans after her father takes a job in China. Living in New York City all her life, she is in culture shock. To top it off she is living with a family/friend she has never met plus her mother was killed when she was a little girl so she feels so alone.
However one night she follows a group of teens from her school into the local cemetary across the street from her house and discovers a girl name Lizette who befriends her. As the story unfolds we learn that Lizette is a ghost and spends her days haunting the cemetary. What suspense and intrigue. Put this ghost story on your list to read soon!

Graphic Novel or Novel First?

When I read Coraline, the graphic novel version, I couldn't help but sense that something was missing. Was it me or was it that the pictures provide an idea of what's happening but not alot of insight into the characters. Maybe you need more words for that. This book defintely peaked my curiosity about the novel. I felt it to be creepy and spine chilling at times. Can't wait to see the movie too.
